The Bucks Bring More Players to Milwaukee for Tryouts; Alec Burks Expected Tomorrow

The Milwaukee Bucks held additional tryouts on Thursday and Friday, raising the total number of players brought in for team workouts to 18.  Information on the first six who came on Wednesday can be found here.  Of the players who auditioned over the last two days, only two are expected to be selected in the NBA’s two-round draft on June 23.

Possible First-Round Selections (#10 Overall):

  • Tyler Honeycutt – UCLA – Sophomore
    6’8” – 188 lbs – Forward

Honeycutt flies in for the dunk during his workout in Milwaukee. His strength is one of the Bucks' weaknesses: athleticism.

  • Bryquis Perine – Green Bay – 6’3” – 180 lbs – Guard
  • Paul Carter – Illinois-Chicago – 6’8” – 200 lbs –Forward
  • Pooh Williams – Utah State – 6’4” – 190 lbs – Guard/Forward
  • Gary McGhee – Pittsburgh –  6’11” – 250 lbs – Center

  • Rahmon Fletcher – Green Bay – 5’10” – 165 lbs – Guard
  • Diante Garrett – Iowa State  - 6’4” – 190 lbs – Guard

Honeycutt, according to most mock drafts, projects as a late first-round pick, so his presence indicates that Milwaukee either values him highly or would be willing to trade down in the draft.

Note the high number of local players, as well as some candidates at center in Benson and McGhee.  McGhee may be best remembered for a play that he would rather forget in the Big East Tournament.

The Bucks are expected to hold one more workout session on Saturday before sending GM John Hammond and Bucks Director of Scouting Billy McKinney to Italy to scout the Adidas Eurocamp. Chances are that it will include University of Colorado guard Alec Burks who, like Marcus Morris, is a candidate to be drafted by Milwaukee with the #10 overall pick. Burks essentially tweeted as much earlier in the day:

With an appointment on the final day of team workouts, Burks will get a chance to make a lasting impression on the Bucks’ staff, one that could ultimately determine whether or not Milwaukee selects him with their #10 pick.
