Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece Defeat Serbia

This morning, Bucks 15th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft  Giannis Antetokounmpo played his first competitive basketball since being selected by Milwaukee nearly two weeks ago. Giannis is competing with his country, Greece, in the U20 European Championships.

Today, Giannis and his Greek teammates opened up pool play against Serbia. Giannis had an impressively efficient game coming off the bench. In 33 minutes of play, he recorded 14 points on 4-6 shooting (including 2-2 from three as well as going 4-6 from the free throw line), grabbed 5 boards, dished out an assist, and blocked one shot. Giannis’ shot selection was extremely potent, as all of his points came off of dunks, three pointers, and free throws. Giannis and Greece defeated the Serbs 79-73. Tomorrow Greece will face Germany in their second game of pool play.

Here are some game highlights courtesy of FIBA Europe TV. Giannis is sporting #11 on Greece, the team with the white uniforms. You can really see Giannis’ athleticism, interior defensive presence, and aggressiveness from his game today. His shooting stroke looks on point as well. The Bucks may have found themselves a very good basketball player.
