Raptors edge out Bucks in Milwaukee

With a three game lead (?) over the Sixers with just five games to play, most of this is just formality for the Bucks. Not for the Raptors, though, who are holding off the Bulls for the third spot in the East. They edged out the Bucks 102-98 to hold that spot.

The Bucks play on the court has been out done by the goings-on off the court. The Milwaukee Bucks organization should be sold soon, according to Bill Simmons on Twitter. A day before that news broke, Larry Sanders was suspended five games for failing a drug test three times because of his apparent strong feelings for cannabis.

Despite the distractions and the apparent meaninglessness of the remaining games, the Bucks played pretty complete game. They only had eight guys to play, and five of them scored 13 points or more. John Henson had a cool 23 points on 10-16 shooting to go with 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 blocks. For those asking for increased minutes for Henson, your wish was granted tonight. Because of Zaza Pachulia‘s foul trouble (only played 8 minutes), Henson got 39 minutes.

Other solid performances came from the former Bobcat duo, who both finished with double-doubles. Ramon Sessions had 13 points and 10 assists; Jeff Adrien added 19 points and 12 boards. Khris Middleton had 20 points on just 9 shots!!! Middleton was 0-2 from three, though, and the teams inability to hit from downtown (1-9, 11.1%) was the difference.

The Bucks defense also seemed very active, but they lost shooters too frequently. They held the Raptors to 44.4% shooting, but the Raptors matched that percentage from three. Greivis Vasquez was 6-8 from long range en route to his game high 26 points.

Game Notes:

  • Brandon Knight had a MONSTER dunk over Jonas Valanciunas. I mean MONSTER dunk.
  • I continue to be impressed with Knight’s decision making. That has been my favorite improvement from Knight. He had two turnovers tonight, but seemed to make the right pass more times than not.
  • Chris Wright is back with the team. He got 15 minutes of action and turned that into a respectable 4 points (2-2), 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 0 turnovers.
  • The Bucks looked sexy tonight. There were at least 5 big dunks that made you think we were a real NBA team for a minute. Take that for what it’s worth.
