The magic number is zero. The Bucks are now guaranteed the worst record in the NBA and therefore the most ping pong balls at the draft lottery May 20. The Wizards provided that magic (pun intended) number with a 104-91 victory in Washington.
Brandon Knight was a late scratch for the Bucks with a hip injury, so if you’re counting at home that means there was one guard left on the roster–Roman Sessions. Sessions played 41 minutes, and the open two guard spot meant extra minutes for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton, who accumulated 43 and 43 minutes respectively. Giannis, who started, was sort of effective. He hit a three as part of 8 points and 8 rebounds, but turned the ball over 4 times. Middleton was more effective, but far less efficient. He got to 20 points and was a 4-5 from three, but made only 2 of his 10 shots elsewhere.
Bradley Beal took advantage of the shooting guard-less Bucks, scoring a game high 26 points on 12-22 shooting and adding 5 assists. John Wall was similarly difficult to stop, finishing with 15 points, 8 assists.
Jeff Adrien carried the Bucks big guys with another double-double (11pts/10rebs), but 5 turnovers put a spot on his otherwise decent night. John Henson was really good tonight, but only got 23 minutes because of foul trouble. He shot 60% from the floor en route to 13 points, 7 rebounds. He also could not avoid the turnover bug, coughing it up 3 times.
- Marcin Gortat finished with a double-double (13pts/13rebs).
- Miroslav Raduljica got 17 minutes. Pretty cool.
- The Bucks only used eight players once again. Just to rub it in, the Wizards used all 13.
- Two more games left, and we can’t mess this up. Go Bucks!
The Bucks will take on the Raptors in Toronto on Monday.
