Adam Silver addressed reporters at a press conference Tuesday afternoon.
If you somehow haven’t heard, NBA commissioner Adam Silver brought the proverbial hammer down on Clippers owner Donald Sterling during a press conference Tuesday afternoon.
Silver banned Sterling from the Clippers and the NBA for life, in addition to levying a $2.5 million fine, the maximum amount possible under the NBA constitution. Silver also announced that he would strongly suggest the league’s Board of Governors act to force Silver to sell the team. The decision would require a vote from the NBA’s other 29 owners, a motion that Silver expressed with great confidence he believes would pass.
Per his lifetime ban, Sterling will be prohibited from attending NBA games and practices, in addition to participating in league activities, like owner’s meetings.
The punishment was immediately met with near-resounding support, as media members, players, owners and other NBA figures took to Twitter to express their thoughts.
