The Milwaukee Bucks lost to the Indiana Pacers in a blowout on Saturday, their third such defeat in three straight games.

It’s after nights like Saturday that you can be forgiven for finding yourself stopping to pause to remember why exactly it was that you waited all summer long with bated breath for the return of the NBA and Milwaukee Bucks basketball more specifically.

The truth is that much of what Milwaukee did in the first quarter had all the answers to that too.

We saw the “Own The Future” core out on the floor together, healthy and looking like a well-oiled machine. They were being who they are as players, owning their own collective identity and thriving as a result. Then it all went so horribly wrong.

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it was that turned the game. It wasn’t one specific detail, one chain of events, or one momentum changing play. Very simply, the Bucks just looked like a bad basketball team in the second half.

Rebounding has been the trendy source of blame for many of late, but Milwaukee actually won the rebounding battle 43-42 in this one, albeit via a lopsided distribution with 14 boards hauled in by Greg Monroe.

More than anything else this game was lost on a combination of effort and focus, and this young team owes it to themselves not to fall into a pattern of making that a habit.

Let’s get down to it though, here are your grades and reactions to the Bucks defeat at the hands of the Pacers.
