Although Greg Monroe has been pushed towards the center of recent Milwaukee Bucks rumors, Michael Carter-Williams is also reportedly available. Is there a market for him?

When Jason Kidd announced his team for Tuesday’s game with the Boston Celtics and Greg Monroe and Michael Carter-Williams were both dropped to the bench, all sorts of questions began to swirl.

Was a trade imminent? Was Kidd looking for a sneak peek at how some of his key pieces would function without them?

Over the past couple of weeks we’ve talked a lot about the pros and cons of trading Monroe, what the Bucks might ask for, and players who could fit in a deal. Mentioned in the same breath in any report stating Monroe’s availability has also been Bucks point guard Michael Carter-Williams though.

More from Bucks Rumors

While the bench would have been very unfamiliar surroundings for Greg Monroe to start in for the win against Boston, Carter-Williams has been there before. As he approaches a year in Milwaukee, MCW’s tenure has been tumultuous at best. When you’ve even been benched at times in spite of a lack of healthy point guard alternatives, that’s really not a good sign.

In Gery Woelfel’s report that triggered much of the recent speculation, he quoted a league source as saying:

"From what I’m hearing is they (the Bucks) are willing to trade anybody not named Parker, Antetokounmpo or Middleton. I even heard they’d listen (to offers) for Parker and Middleton, but it would have to be some crazy offer. They want to do something; they know they have to do something. That group they have isn’t working."

This claim was verified by Michael Scotto of the Associated Press and Sheridan Hoops later in that same day.

The reality is that none of this was a surprise. Prior to any more public reports, many had speculated that this was a possibility.

The short length of Monroe’s contract was always going to mean it made sense to gauge interest considering the team isn’t exactly firing on all cylinders. The same applies for Carter-Williams who will eventually be due his extension and is yet to really sell everyone on his long-term fit.

The big question is whether there’s a market to be found for the Bucks point guard?

Let’s take a look at some of the teams who could be looking for a point guard to see if there’s any real possibility of MCW moving on.
