If the Milwaukee Bucks are in the hunt for veteran influences this summer, who are some of the better, cost-effective options available in free agency?

We’re now a year on from when the Milwaukee Bucks made a decision to clear out close to all of their veteran corps, placing greater demands and responsibility on their young roster.

They say hindsight is 20/20, but I’m not sure who exactly thought that was a good idea to begin with. It proved disastrous for Milwaukee in a season where although their young players showed some growth, they lacked calming voices to weather the frequent storms they faced.

As such, Milwaukee’s management must at least by praised for holding their hands up, admitting their mistakes and hoping to rectify them this summer.

The Bucks have made their intention to add some experience to their team this summer very clear on multiple occasions, and if anything the decision not to retain either of Johnny O’Bryant or Damien Inglis on Wednesday reflected that.

So, in a summer when the Bucks hope to identify and secure the services of capable role players, they’re also holding out for players who can set the tone and the standards, motivate their teammates, and pass on the knowledge they’ve picked up on their journey so far.

That seemed to be the intention late last season when Milwaukee added Steve Novak, but a cruel injury shortly after his signing robbed them of the opportunity to see any real, meaningful impact.

Novak would seem like an odds on favorite to return to Milwaukee next year, but what other veterans could be in contention to join him?

Let’s take a look at five players who could fit that bill, contribute in areas of need, and fall in under a price range that wouldn’t scupper any of Milwaukee’s more significant free agency plans.
