NY Times: Do the Milwaukee Bucks have the next Dr. J on their hands? According to one ex-NBA agent, they might:

Torrel Harris, a former sports agent who operates a sports apparel business, compared his son to a young Julius Erving, a Long Island native who is probably the greatest N.B.A. player to come out of New York.

“I really think Tobias is going to be as special as Dr. J was,” he said. “For a big man, Julius could do it all, and Tobias is the same way. He can score and he can rebound and he can handle the ball very well for a player his size.”

While both players hail from Long Island, Tobias Harris smartly downplayed the overzealous talk of his papa.

Like Erving, Harris received little news media attention as a high school player.

“That’s because we both played outside the five boroughs,” Harris said. “But it didn’t matter that the media wasn’t paying attention to me; all that mattered was that I was paying attention to me.”

Harris, who said he considered himself “a solid, all-around player,” acknowledged that he was not “at Dr. J’s level yet.”

NBA.com: Speaking of Julius Erving, the Bucks once had their shot at “the Doctor”. (more…)
