Ersan Ilyasova Will Play in Turkey During Lockout

Many reports last week indicated that Ersan Ilyasova would sign with Fenerbahce Ulker.  However, Ilyasova will be joining Anadolu Efes instead.  On the same day that the Istanbul-based Euroleague team chose to sign the Trailblazers’ Patty Mills in place of Keyon Dooling, the squad also reached a deal with Ersan Ilyasova that will pay him 2.7 million Euros for the upcoming season. He remains under contract for one more year with the Bucks, but with the lockout looking like a long-term situation, it remains to be seen if he will ever return to Milwaukee for an NBA game.

Ilyasova will be joining an Anadolu roster that also features ex-NBA players Sasha Vujacic, Mills, Esteban Batista, and Tarence Kinsey. In the Euroleague, Efes failed to reach make the playoffs last season, but adding Mills, Vujacic, and Ilyasova should give them much greater odds of getting there this year.  The promise of winning a championship on home soil awaits them; the 2011-12 Euroleague Final Four will be played in Istanbul at the Sinan Erdem Dome.
