Milwaukee Bucks: Three-Point Shootout History
By Adam McGee
2000-01 – Ray Allen (Champion)
After his near miss in 2000, Allen returned in search of success at the 2001 All-Star Weekend in Washington D.C. Just like in the previous year (and the next one), Allen was not just there to shoot the three ball, but also to play in the All-Star game itself.
Before that, Allen was joined in the shootout field for All-Star Saturday by Peja Stojakovic, Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Rashard Lewis, Pat Garrity, Allan Houston and Bryon Russell.
Hungry to avenge his loss from the previous year, Allen racked up 20 first round points to advance to the finals in first place. For the second straight season, Dirk Nowitzki joined Allen in the final round, with Stojakovic rounding out the lineup to keep them company.
With the pressure on, Allen managed to almost replicate his lights out opening round. 19 points would be enough for the former UConn Husky to see off the competition and bring the trophy back home to Milwaukee.
