Lineup Turbulence

The news that Malcolm Brogdon will be out for approximately two months is sad for sure, but the providence of Jabari coming back right now can’t be overlooked. The Bucks should be able to maintain a similar level of depth overall.

With Eric Bledsoe nursing a bad ankle, the fact that rookie Sterling Brown has already been brought along so far is going to be huge for the Bucks over the next few weeks. Brown scored nine points in 17 minutes against the Knicks, and continues to look very competent.

While Parker’s return bolsters the front court, Brown’s emergence stabilizes the back court. Unfortunately, Brown appears to lack the playmaking ability to run the point for the Bucks. An increasing share of that job is in the hands of Matthew Dellevadova, who underwhelmed in 27 minutes against New York.

As Coach Prunty finds ways to incorporate Parker, it will be interesting to see if he has any success with lineups that include neither Bledsoe nor Dellevadova. Giannis has shown that he can initiate the offense, and in the near term it might be a good way to skirt the depth issue at point guard.
