A sloppy performance did in the Wisconsin Herd Saturday night as they fell to the undefeated and G League leading Sioux Falls Skyforce in Sanford Pentagon.
Following a week-long layoff, the Wisconsin Herd returned to action and ran into the unstoppable and undefeated Sioux Falls Skyforce Saturday night as they lost 123-105 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
The Herd got off to a strong start and even held a brief lead going into the first stoppage in play for the night. But following the timeout, an unfortunately timed three-minute scoring drought and the Skyforce finding their groove from beyond the arc led to the Miami Heat affiliate holding a 37-24 lead after one.
Things started to unravel for the Herd quickly in the opening minutes of the second quarter and the Skyforce capitalized by building their lead into the 20-point range.
The Herd got things to stabilize, thanks to a brief offensive spark provided by Robert Johnson, but it did very little to cut down their sizeable deficit as they trailed 68-50 heading into halftime.
The bleeding didn’t let up at the start of the second half, thanks to the Skyforce having an answer for seemingly every Herd bucket throughout the third quarter. That all led to the Skyforce reinforcing their substantial lead through three as they led 101-77 over the Herd.
It was in the final frame when things started to get interesting for the Herd. Breaking out their small lineup to open up play in the fourth quarter, the Herd rattled off a very productive run that eventually brought them within nine of Sioux Falls at the 5:53 mark of the period.
That would be as far as their comeback push would go, though, as the Skyforce put down 12 of the game’s last 16 points, which acted as the finishing touches on the contest between the two teams.
So without further ado, let’s dig into what stood out in the Herd’s loss to the Skyforce from Saturday night, starting with handing out our third round of player of the game honors.
