Milwaukee Bucks: Comparing assets for Chris Paul trade to other teams – Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Suns are seemingly at the forefront of Chris Paul negotiations, as news broke Tuesday night courtesy of ESPN’s Brian Windhorst and Tim Bontemps that they were in discussions with OKC involving the guard.
The Suns’ potential offer for Chris Paul could arguably be the most competitive among teams in pursuit. A legitimate deal could look something along the lines of Ricky Rubio, Kelly Oubre Jr., and the No. 10 overall pick in this year’s draft in exchange for Paul and OKC’s No. 25 pick via Denver.
Oubre is coming off a career-year, but his season concluded early as he missed the entirety of the NBA’s restart with a torn meniscus. At 24 years old, Oubre will undoubtedly bounce back stronger and would be a great piece to add to OKC’s young rotation.
Rubio is a fantastic floor general on a digestible contract and would be a great veteran to pair next to the ascending Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Adding the No. 10 overall pick on top of that is surely captivating as it adds to OKC’s never-ending pile of draft capital over the next several years.
Furthermore, with reports from ESPN’s Johnathan Givony ($$) indicating that they are looking to move up to potentially select LaMelo Ball with the first overall pick, that tenth selection could be crucial in any offering made towards the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Bucks cannot compete with such an offer, and as they try to end their playoff drought, the Phoenix Suns appear to be at the forefront of the Chris Paul sweepstakes.
