Milwaukee Bucks: The 5 biggest questions entering 2020-21 season
Will this be the Milwaukee Bucks’ roster going into the playoffs?
The Bucks enter their 2020-21 season with their roster locked in and very little wiggle room to another piece to their 14-man roster at this juncture.
With big salaries committed to the likes of Middleton, Antetokounmpo, Holiday and Lopez at the top of the cap sheet and Holiday’s unlikely bonuses being taken into account, the Bucks are over the luxury tax threshold and starting up against the $138.9 million hard cap. They can’t exceed the hard cap at any point throughout the year.
So while plenty of hope exists around their many moves coalescing as the season goes on, the Bucks are between a rock and a hard place when it comes to making a move on the periphery if need be. Bucks general manager Jon Horst addressed that tough reality when meeting with the media Tuesday afternoon, but did express optimism in having some flexibility to make a move.
That leaves the Bucks with potentially using their ancillary pieces and salaries for a deal and they’re recently down one less draft pick as a result of the league’s tampering investigation into their failed pursuit of Bogdan Bogdanovic.
Of course, there’s always the possibility that the Bucks look to bring in a veteran on a buyout who has their eyes set on winning a title just as they have done in the last two seasons with Pau Gasol and Marvin Williams. Still, that possibility could be defined by how their many new additions and rejiggered bench unit performs as the season goes along.
The answers to all of these questions and more will be revealed starting tonight when the Bucks’ 2020-21 season tips off against the Celtics and all Bucks fans are eager to see how it all unfolds.
