Milwaukee Bucks vs. Boston Celtics: Marcus Smart

Marcus Smart could not find any rhythm against Jrue Holiday and the Milwaukee Bucks

Marcus Smart has always been a thorn in Milwaukee’s side over the years, particularly because of his antics on the defensive end.

However, he has worked to expand his offensive game over the past several years by  becoming more of a scoring and shooting threat. That meant the Bucks would have to give him attention defensively, which they have in all three matchups against the Boston Celtics this season by throwing Holiday his way.

Guarding him for just under nine minutes throughout these three contests, Holiday has held Smart to just 1-for-7 shooting for a total of three points. Five of those six misses came from behind the arc, which is certainly something to behold as Smart is having the second-best shooting season of his career at 35.5 percent on 5.8 3-point attempts per game.

While Smart is not a generational scorer by any stretch of the imagination, it is welcoming all the same to see Holiday take him out of the game almost entirely on the offensive end. With the Bucks and Celtics potentially able to meet down the road in the postseason, this matchup could resurface again.

If these two teams square off in a seven-game series, having Holiday will be a huge boost to throw at Smart and Boston’s other collection of wings.
