Milwaukee Bucks: Analyzing Bleacher Report’s Ben Simmons trade offer
By Dalton Sell
The lunacy behind the Milwaukee Bucks hypothetically trading for Ben Simmons
The most significant factor that the Bucks always consider when pondering a trade is how the player in question will fit alongside Antetokounmpo.
When it comes to a hypothetical trade for Simmons, fit is obviously the biggest issue. Simmons is limited offensively due to his unwillingness to shoot jumpers, with virtually all of his damage done right at the rim. Although Antetokounmpo has expanded his range this season to shoot more and more jumpers from the mid-range and 3-point territory, his best work is still done right at the rim, and having Simmons would create some immediate problems. One would always be clogging the lane for the other, and despite the shooters out on the perimeter, there would be headbutting to some degree whenever these two take the court together.
Trading Holiday would also undoubtedly create some chemistry issues within the locker room and out on the floor. Bringing aboard a player once the season has already started is a challenge due to the lack of preseason, training camp, and regular season action with the roster, but Simmons and his playstyle would only make things more challenging. The Bucks already know they can win it all with their current trio, and the Antetokounmpo-Middleton-Holiday paring is among the best in the entire association. Swapping Holiday for Simmons would put the Bucks in a difficult position as they are already trying to maneuver through early-season issues.
