Milwaukee Bucks: Analyzing Bleacher Report’s Ben Simmons trade offer
By Dalton Sell
The verdict on the Milwaukee Bucks hypothetically trading for Ben Simmons
It goes without saying that the Bucks will not consider trading their starting point guard who just helped them win a championship for a player that poses more questions than answers.
Holiday is clearly a much better fit for the Bucks offensively, and he is obviously a great defensive player as well. While he has struggled to find his shot early this season, Holiday is coming off the most efficient shooting season of his career with the Bucks last year, and that is no coincidence. He fits like a glove in this system offensively, and his defensive excellence makes it all the better. Tie that in with his already established chemistry with Antetokounmpo and Middleton, and there is little reason why the team would genuinely consider this move.
Both with team chemistry and on-court fit, Simmons sets the Bucks back a few ticks rather than helping in their quest to repeat as NBA champions. Simmons would simply not be a great fit with the Bucks alongside Antetokounmpo in the way that Holiday has proven to be. The pairing would be a disaster waiting to happen and a move that the Bucks would steer clear of in any situation. Simmons will likely get traded at some point, but it will not be to Milwaukee.
The Bucks do not need a trade for Simmons, but perhaps trading for a big man should be on their radar in the early portion of the season.
