3 keys for Milwaukee Bucks finishing homestand against Detroit Pistons
The Milwaukee Bucks need to take advantage of the Detroit Pistons lack of frontcourt size
For once, the Milwaukee Bucks will be playing a team that is more undersized than they are with their lack of frontcourt depth. At times this season being without both Brook Lopez and Bobby Portis, the Bucks were vulnerable inside and it made life very difficult for them during their 1-5 stretch this season.
However, the Pistons will be the ones at a disadvantage tonight without Kelly Olynyk (knee injury) and Isaiah Stewart (suspended for going ballistic), leaving Trey Lyles as their lone NBA-ready big man in their frontcourt.
This means a few things. First, Giannis Antetokounmpo should feast in this matchup as they won’t have many viable options to guard him. Stewart has done a solid enough job in the past but he won’t be there, so Antetokounmpo will have free reign against the Pistons undermanned frontcourt.
Second, it should mean that Jrue Holiday will have fewer heavier contested shots at the rim so that will help with what I wrote about earlier. Finally, the Bucks will be able to crash the offensive glass for extra possessions and have an easier time finishing off defensive possessions.
Although Milwaukee ranks near the bottom of the league in the percentage of their points coming in the paint, this is a Detroit team that will be susceptible to giving up a ton of points at the basket so that will likely be a big point of emphasis in this one.
