Bounding Athleticism
This is Antetokounmpo’s calling card. It’s rare that you read a sentence with the Greek’s name in it that doesn’t also have the word “athletic” positioned nearby. More than anything else, this is probably the reason why the league selected him to compete in the event.
The way that Giannis surges down court and effortlessly leaps over defenders to the basket is one of the most exciting sights in the NBA in 2015, and it’s important that Antetokounmpo captures that essence in the Dunk Contest.
If there’s one player who has done the perfect job of showing off his hops and reach on that stage, it’s the one and only Michael “Air” Jordan.
Jordan executed his iconic free-throw line dunk in 1988, and with his extra length there’s no reason why Antetokounmpo couldn’t equal or surpass it.
