Milwaukee Bucks Grades: Starters

Brandon Knight, B+

26 Points| 9-17 FG | 4-6 FT | 4 REB | 5 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK |

Brandon came out like a gun-slinger and within the first couple of minutes he had set the tone for the type of game he was going to have. Knight made three of his four long balls in the first quarter, and between hanging back at the perimeter and getting to the rim with ease, Knight was allowed to do whatever he wanted to in this one. A more efficient shooting night than some of his recent ones, a definite cause for encouragement.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, A

14 Points| 6-10 FG | 2-4 FT | 11 REB | 5 AST | 1 STL | 2 BLK |

For a long time it felt as if people spoke about Giannis as an experiment more than anything else. Sure, he’s freakishly long and athletic, but more importantly he’s putting it all together on the hardwood. Although the Giannis as point guard idea may not truly ever have been feasible, he has grown into a true point forward.

His distribution was outstanding in this one, his defensive awareness was on point, and most importantly with the Bucks’ absence of big men, he came up big as a rebounder. Basically, he might only be 20, but Giannis already steps up to give his team exactly what they need on a nightly basis.

Khris Middleton, B-

11 Points | 5-10 FG | 0-0 FT | 8 REB | 2 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK |

Middleton’s three-pointer wasn’t falling in this one, but calmly and surely, Middleton popped up with another strong effort. Like clockwork he came up with double-digits in terms of points and was active on the boards. His passing is what’s really interesting though. Middleton continues to look more and more comfortable passing out of the post, and as that continues expect assists and hockey assists to continue to rack up.

Jared Dudley, C

8 Points | 3-6 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

Dudley may not have been the difference maker on this occasion, but he continues to step up like a grown man and do exactly what’s asked of him. It can’t be easy playing power forward at 6″7′, but in spite of being outmatched and beaten on the boards almost every time, Milwaukee can rely on Dudley to give the necessary effort to allow his team to regroup. His shooting’s not half bad either.

John Henson, C+

9 Points| 3-6 FG | 3-4 FT | 5 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 3 BLK |

Henson started fast with four quick points, and then went a little quiet. The team’s blistering play with him in the starting lineup simply can’t be ignored, but you have to feel he still has a long way to go in terms of development too. Henson showed more of his beautiful hook shots in this one, it would be nice to see him grab a few more rebounds too though.
