Patrick Beverley
Continuing the theme of underdog point guards competing in this year’s competition we have Patrick Beverley. The 26-year-old was drafted as the 42nd pick of the 2009 Draft, but it took him considerably longer to make his way back to basketball’s big league.
A tour of playing professionally in Europe saw Beverley stop off in countries such as Greece, Ukraine and Russia, before eventually landing back with the Houston Rockets.
Since arriving in the NBA, Beverley has earned himself a reputation as one of the toughest and most tenacious competitors in the league, particularly at the point guard spot.
So far this season, Beverley is averaging 10.7 points, 3.3 assists and 4.5 rebounds in 30.9 minutes per game.
Does his skill set fit in with this contest though? Judge for yourself, this can’t harm his chances anyway.
