Reactions: The Bad

  • When the Bucks lose there’s usually two reasons why: too many turnovers, and/or bad rebounding. The Bucks dipped a little into both pots against the Hawks, turning it over 24 times and getting out-rebounded 43-38, while allowing sixteen offensive rebounds to the Hawks–including eight to Paul Millsap alone.
  • Until Michael Carter-Williams enters the rotation the Bucks will struggle with point guard play. Jerryd Bayless turned in a strong effort in 30 minutes, but wasn’t able to generate the ball movement that we’ve enjoyed seeing before the All-Star break. This comes down to continuity and experience playing together. In time the Bucks will regain the form that we saw with Brandon Knight, but until then we might see more one-man possessions over crisp ball movement and wise passing.
  • Kyle Korver swayed the game with his three point shooting. He hit back-to-back-to-back three pointers on the same top of the key screen play early in the fourth quarter. When playing the Hawks you know that Korver will be an issue at some stage in the ball game. The key to beating he Hawks is to limit Korver’s influence and make sure that the shooting faucet only trickles, not gushes. The Bucks weren’t able to accomplish that.
