Adam: The Wizards started the season in great shape with the addition of Paul Pierce, and they looked formidable as a unit on the floor. What changed to cause their recent dip?
Ben: I don’t think anything necessarily changed. The Wizards took advantage of an easy schedule early on and injuries began to pile up before the All-Star break. Still, that should not be an excuse for losing to lottery-bound teams like the 76ers or Timberwolves. They relied on John Wall heavily and now he’s inevitably become burned out. In hindsight, I think we should have expected the Wizards to go through a major slump.
Every team goes through ups and downs, and now it’s time to see how the Wizards will react to a significant slump, especially before the playoffs begin.
