Reactions: The Bad
- Jimmy Butler was still a problem. He scored 24 points (1-7 from three, ha) on 8-20 shooting with three rebounds and two assists. He also did this. Sigh. Let’s hope he doesn’t re-sign with the Bulls next season.
- The Bucks had no answer for Derrick Rose either. Amidst scattered, unquantified (this season) M-V-P chants, Rose destroyed the Bucks. He’s not a great three point shooter (.280), but hit 5-9 from three, taking advantage of silly pull-ups and open looks. Averages say he misses two more of those shots. Oh well. I’m sure the Cavs won’t mind when the law of averages returns to the median. Anyway, here are his highlights. How do you defend that? Not easily. Despite Carter-William’s most gamely effort.
- The Bucks are going to have to give Bayless a really, really close look going forward. He wasn’t there again (0-4 FG, 1 point), and again took an ill-advised fourth quarter jumper. Following the shot Kidd promptly removed him from the game. He did not return. Bayless has been a solid addition to the bench for the most part–but don’t look for him to be playing in the Cream’n’Green after next season. Hell, the Bucks may even try to shop him this off-season.
- Speaking of shopping, the Bucks are going to have to shop for some band-aids after Tony-Freaking-Snell ripped off 16 points on 5-9 shooting (4-8 from three) without contributing so much as a rebound, assist, or block. On the season Snell is averaging 6 points per game. Shake your heads, guys.
- Free throws. What a nuisance. The Bucks shot 14-25 (56%) from the line tonight. Meanwhile, the Bulls shot 19-24 (79.2%) from the stripe. Don’t bother checking the score–the Bucks win in regulation if they make just a couple more free throws. Henson’s miss in the last minute of regulation really hurt.
