Milwaukee Bucks Grades: Bench

O.J. Mayo, A

18 Points| 6-11 FG | 2-2 FT | 3 REB | 4 AST | 4 STL | 0 BLK |

The Bucks don’t win without Mayo’s clutch-shooting heroics. It’s as simple as that. He led the Bucks in scoring while dropping in 4-6 from distance. He even hit a three pointer that was initially counted before being reviewed and overturned. Defensively he didn’t give an inch to Butler and was a big reason why Butler scored just ten points in the second half. He served as a big-time decoy on the game’s final play as everyone just assumed the ball would be going to the hot-shooting Mayo. Nope. Fingers crossed he keeps up the rhythm.

Jared Dudley, A

13 Points | 5-9 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 5 AST | 2 STL | 1 BLK |

Thank you, Mr. Dudley, for assuming the form of undeniable x-factor. Duds shot 3-4 from outside (that’s HUGE). He also dropped in that feathery-perfect drop pass to Bayless for the game-winning layup. Dudley hit all of his threes in the first half and (like Game 3) was a major reason that the Bucks were able to build a sizeable lead. And to think: the Bucks gave up two ancillary characters for a first round draft pick and Dudley. What a steal.

John Henson, A

6 Points| 3-7 FG | 0-2 FT | 5 REB | 2 AST | 1 STL | 4 BLK |

Four blocks. Four mind-numbing-my-arm-is-longer-than-yours blocks. That’s Henson. He missed a strange lefty semi-hook, but that’s fixable. All he needs to do is turn that shot into a full lefty hook and he’s set. His play of the night came on an offensive rebound on his own missed shot where he out-hustled Pau Gasol for the offensive rebound and put-back layup. He tossed in a fourth quarter block that felt like it swung the game in the Bucks’ favor. He probably won’t start Game 5, but he really should.

Jerryd Bayless, A

10 Points | 3-10 FG | 4-5 FT | 3 REB | 5 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

Have you noticed a pattern in the bench’s grades yet? They all earned an “A” grade. That’s because the bench unit saved the game for the Milwaukee Bucks and Bayless was the linchpin that sealed the game for the Bucks. He didn’t back down when Brooks took a cheap shot at him. That’s Bayless for you. I doubt he’s ever backed down from anything ever. Burning Derrick Rose may be the single best play of his NBA career.
