2. So Derrick Rose is Still Shooting…

To make a long story shot, Derrick Rose was settling for jumpers a lot this regular season. Like, a lot a lot. He was shooting 5.3 threes a game, and shooting 28% on them (ouch). A lot of basketball minds thought he would attack more and settle less when it came to playoff time.

While he’s attacking the rim much more, he’s still shooting a lot of jump shots. His threes per game has shot up to an astounding 6.5, but he’s actually been shooting an impressive 46.2%. In fact, he’s actually been shooting better outside of the paint than inside. Here’s his shot chart in the series.

While a few highlight layups may make some think he’s been attacking more and settling less, 38.4% (!) of his shots are still coming from three-point range. To add to that, his finishing numbers have actually been terrible as he’s shooting under 50% inside of 3 feet.

(Note: Keep the rest storyline in mind. Games 1 and 3 have been complete opposites from Games 2, 4, and 5 for Rose.)
