"Griffin played for the Texas Legends last season and has the ability to be a “3-and-D” guy in the NBA. He’s 25 years old and 6’8 and possesses the unique ability to get to the rim, shoot from outside and defend at a high level. – Chris Reichert"
Griffin has worked his way around the basketball world in an attempt to earn his shot at the big time. After a college career that saw him represent three different schools (most recently and for the longest time Campbell University), Griffin has seized every chance that has come his way over the past couple of years.
The Florida native has played professionally in Italy, Puerto Rico and Venezuela, as well as doing the NBA’s Summer League and training camp circuit with teams like the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks.
It was last season in the D-League with the Texas Legends that Griffin really stood out though. In 49 games with the Legends, Griffin averaged 19 points and 6.6 rebounds, while shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from behind the arc.
That culminated in Griffin being named as a D-League All-Star, and then being selected to the All- NBA D-League Third Team and the NBA D-League All-Defensive Second Team.
In other words, now seems as good a time as any for him to make the next big leap.
