Tuttle will hope to enter into the NBA off the back of an outstanding season with the University of Northern Iowa Panthers. The Panthers won the Missouri Valley Tournament and returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010.
UNI entered the NCAA Tournament as a fifth seed in their conference, and even managed to pick up a win against Wyoming before being eliminated by Louisville in the Second Round.
What was the spark for that run? Well, Tuttle definitely played more than his share in it.
The 22-year-old averaged 15.3 points per game last season, and did so while standing out as one of the most efficient shooters in the country. Per DraftExpress, Tuttle posted a true shooting percentage of 69.4, four percent better than potential number one overall pick Jahlil Okafor.
Tuttle prides himself on maintaining the highest of standards, and by all accounts he seems to have thrived in a leadership role throughout his college career. Speaking to the New York Times back in February, Tuttle said:
"What Coach talked to me about quite a bit was making sure I do everything the right way all the time, not taking any plays off, leading by example for the rest of the guys."
Not unlike Dawson, the difficulty for Tuttle will once again come with the fact that he’ll fall in as a tweener in the NBA. To his advantage though, Tuttle did shoot 43 percent from deep in his final year. As reported by the Des Moines Register, Tuttle’s agent Mike Kneisley has every faith in his player:
"He brings tremendous intangibles to any organization. He knows how to play the game. If he can shoot it from 3 and if he can handle defending some 4s (power forwards), then that’s going to be key for him."
With that sentiment backed up by ESPN’s Chad Ford, it seems that there’s a bright future in store for Tuttle. Where exactly it plays out remains to be seen though.
