What The Experts Say:

"Harrell is undersized, but he’s long, explosive athletically and when he’s focused, can play with great energy and motor. – Chad Ford, ESPN"

What The Player Says:

"I feel like I always play with a chip on my shoulder. My opponent is not going to outwork me, that’s just the way I play, that’s just the way I always brought all of that passion and love I have into the game. – Montrezl Harrell"

What BTBP Says:

Harrell is the sort of pest that opposing big men are going to hate playing against in the NBA.

When you’re looking to box out he’ll be climbing all over you trying to snatch away an offensive rebound. When a big man thinks he’s got a simple layup, Harrell will have the drive to come out of nowhere and stop it.

If you think back to the way the Washington Wizards frontcourt played in their second round exit to the Atlanta Hawks, that’s the sort of thing that the team could have done with.

Nene and Marcin Gortat are not getting any younger, and the big Brazilian in particular looks like he has had better days. If they are to replace them, they’ll need a physical presence and Harrell seems tailor-made to give them that.

Ben Mehic of Wiz of Awes spoke of exactly how Harrell could help to energize the Wizards up front:

"In terms of height, Harrell is undersized, but that hasn’t hurt his rebounding nor his ability to finish around the basket. The Wizards need a player who could run along side their back court and change the momentum with a SportsCenter worthy dunk. If he’s on the board, they need to consider taking Montrezl Harrell."
