29. . SF. Virginia. Justin Anderson. 26. player

What The Experts Say:

"Anderson is a willing passer and a capable shooter, improving his 3-point percentage to a scorching 45.6 percent this season. He played in a rigorous and stout defensive system at Virginia, giving him a leg up on his peers when it comes to NBA defense. – Austin Peters, Upside and Motor"

What The Player Says:

"I want to be able to space the floor, especially being a rookie. Just being able to knock down open shots, be reliable, and find my niche in whatever system I land. – Justin Anderson"

What BTBP Says:

Yeah, so this is the part of the draft where every non-Spurs fan throws their eyes towards the sky at the thought that their team may have missed out on a hidden gem that the good folks in the San Antonio front office didn’t miss.

This year I’d put Justin Anderson down as as good a guess as any for who the secretive Spurs might go with.

Anderson is deceptively athletic, a good shooter, physically ready to compete in the pros straight away, and has massive defensive upside. That’s a lot of Gregg Popovich’s boxes ticked straight off.

The Spurs don’t really need a whole lot in a draft sense, although with Marco Belinelli due to hit the open market, bringing in an NBA ready shooting wing definitely wouldn’t hurt.

George Middleton of Air Alamo describes how Anderson could fit in with the Spurs:

"Can be used as a backup for Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green, as he can fill in alongside either. Already polished as a shooter and defender, Anderson could be a gem late in the first round, if he is still available. Playing on a Virginia team, that seems to operate as professionally as any collegiate team will certainly go a long way."
