147. . PG. Utah. Delon Wright. 29. player

What The Experts Say:

"Wright is another wild card. For all the talk about him being a senior and lacking upside, there are several teams that want to be playoff contenders and seem to like him a lot. He’s one of the most NBA-ready players in this draft. – Chad Ford, ESPN"

What The Player Says:

"I think coming in I’ll be a defensive guard, help a team play some defense. From there, I’ll continue to get better and do whatever the coaches see fit, and just play my game. – Delon Wright"

What BTBP Says:

The brother of Portland’s Dorrell Wright, Delon is an intelligent player with a more than impressive resumé from his college career as Utah’s point guard.

Wright is a good defender, who excels at distributing the ball and strongly believes he can improve his shooting at the NBA level.

These are all skills that Brooklyn wouldn’t turn down from their floor general with point guard being a position where it would seem they need to upgrade.

Deron Williams has looked a shadow of the player he once was. Although Jarrett Jack is at times very effective for Brooklyn, that’s generally in a role as a scoring guard more than a facilitator, where in all honesty he plays as more of a two guard. And then that leaves Darius Morris.

Wright would add some youth, smarts, and most importantly, potential into the mix in Brooklyn’s backcourt depth chart.

Tej Shah of Nets Daily News recognizes this, but I’d add that it’s Wright’s play as a point guard that is the biggest plus:

"Besides Bojan Bogdanovic, Jarrett Jack, and Markel Brown, the Nets do not have many players who can come off the bench and play the point guard and shooting guard positions. Drafting Delon Wright with the first round pick would certainly be a step in the “Wright” direction."
