6) Miami Heat
The Miami Heat have a great starting lineup–on paper. In reality they’re taking a lot of chances that likely won’t work out well for them at all though.
Chris Bosh is coming off of a potentially life threatening injury, Dwyane Wade is old and has very shaky knees, Goran Dragic will probably never be as good as he was during his All-NBA 3rd Team season, Hassan Whiteside is too crazy for even the Sacramento Kings, and Luol Deng is just okay.
They’ve got some good pieces, but for all of them to play up to expectations and to still be playing in general by the playoffs would be a miracle in Miami. I still think they’ll play well enough while healthy to steal this sixth seed away from some of the younger teams, but I don’t see the Heat going anywhere in the playoffs this season, despite the superb and underrated Eric Spoelstra running the show.
