AM: Which Hawk are you most excited to watch this season?

AS: I’m very excited to watch Dennis Schröder this season. I’m just a huge fan of his game. He’s an exciting player.

He took a huge step forward last season (18.2 points per 36 minutes, 7.5 assists per 36 minutes, 42.7 percent from the field and 35.1 percent from three-point range).

The way he can break down defenses off the dribble opens up the floor for shooters and playing Schröder with Teague gives the Hawks two ball-handlers on the floor at the same time, which was something the Hawks lacked for long stretches last season.

He was dubbed “the German Rondo” when entering the league due to his playmaking and lack of a jumper. The playmaking part has been accurate (34.6 percent assist rate), but that 35.1 percent mark from outside last season was well above expectations.

I’m interested to see whether or not his shooting takes a step forward, takes a step back or remains the same. If he stays a potent shooter that raises his ceiling tremendously. He’s a fun player and one that could have a breakout season if his minutes increase like I think they will.
