AM: Are you expecting “playoff” Randy Wittman to carry over into the regular season or will he fall back into some of his less favorable old habits?

BM: Like all coaches, Randy Wittman is flawed. There are going to be times where he sits Gortat for too long or when he extends the leash for Nene. But, our primary concern should be the offense. Will he stick to the small-ball, transition offense that most successful teams have adopted? All signs point to him sticking with it.

Wittman has played more three guard lineups in a single game this season than he did all season long last year, it seems like. He has the versatility to continue playing small, which isn’t something he had last year. He saved Paul Pierce for the playoffs and then unleashed him at the four spot. This year, he has Jared Dudley, Kris Humphries and Drew Gooden. Players like Wall, Ramon Sessions and Gary Neal are all capable of playing together too.

“Playoff” Wittman is here to stay. He’s in his final guaranteed season with the club, so he’s hoping to have just as much success during the regular season as he did in the postseason.
