Adam McGee: From the outside looking in it seems as if the Magic have had a good start to the season, putting in some really strong performances that they never really got the rewards from. Is that fair?

Brett David Roberts: The Orlando Magic are a young team, and young teams tend to lose close ball games. But the success is not a mirage.

The Magic are playing tough stringent defense and rank No. 2 (last I checked) in Opponent’s field goal percentage. The problem is that Orlando is not shooting fantastically itself. Evan Fournier is deadeye and Mario Hezonja can knock it down, but the real mystery is Channing Frye. At his best he is a dynamic stretch-4 and his defense has been better.

The Magic need at least one shooter on the court to keep spacing, but it works even better with two. The issue really is that of the core players (Elfrid Payton, Victor Oladipo, Nikola Vucevic and Tobias Harris), none are lights out shooters. This is what has made Fournier so darn valuable.
