18. Arrival of George Karl

He may not have had the longevity of Larry Costello or Don Nelson in the job, but there could be no disputing that George Karl left his mark during his time with the Bucks.

Karl arrived in Milwaukee after a long and successful spell with Seattle and inherited a team who had posted losing records for seven straight seasons. Under Karl’s watch the Bucks never slipped below .500, briefly becoming a major contender.

Although opinions are divided on Karl in the present day in Milwaukee (mostly due to the role he’s said to have played in the Ray Allen trade), he played a big part in building the 52 win team who were one game away from bringing the NBA Finals back to Milwaukee for the first time in 27 years.
