Milwaukee Bucks Grades: Starters

O.J. Mayo, B

14 Points| 7-15 FG | 0-0 FT | 4 REB | 8 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK |

Despite a bit of hero-ball in the third quarter Mayo was effective in the PG role. His eight assists reflect a game where he actively looked for open teammates rather than just creating for himself. That’s not to say he didn’t take his fair share of shots. He did, and the elbow jumpers were his best. But he’s showing serious chops as a distributor, too.

Khris Middleton, D

9 Points | 3-9 FG | 2-3 FT | 6 REB | 2 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK |

You can’t expect anything out of Middleton because he’s just not consistently producing right now. He’s shooting just 36.2% in December while looking uncomfortable when asked to create his own shot. He’s productive on the defensive end–but the Bucks are right to expect more from money Middleton.

 Giannis Antetokounmpo, D+

15 Points | 5-11 FG | 5-6 FT | 6 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK |

Don’t be fooled by his reasonable stat line–he was kept in check until well into garbage time. This was one of those games where Giannis picked up two bad fouls early and was never able to find his groove.  At least his scoring average didn’t take a hit.

Jabari Parker, B-

10 Points | 5-13 FG | 0-0 FT | 5 REB | 0 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK |

Drawing Blake Griffin is an unenviable task, make no mistake. But Parker did a solid job for most of the night staying in front of the Clippers highlight reel machine. One play in particular saw Parker graze a cross-court pass, only to have it fall into Griffin’s welcoming arms. Offensively you would like to see more, but at least his shot selection was good.

Greg Monroe, C+

16 Points| 8-16 FG | 0-0 FT | 10 REB | 2 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK |

Was it just me or did it look like Monroe was jogging in transition an awful lot? The Clippers like to push the tempo–we know that. So why then, does Monroe saunter across the court at a pace more casual than morning coffee? Bewildering, to say the least.
