Milwaukee Bucks Grades: Starters

Michael Carter-Williams, D+

8 Points | 4-13 FG | 0-0 FT | 8 REB | 3 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK |

Damn it. His streak of quality starts came to a screeching halt against the Raptors. He took his usual assortment of circus shots near the rim, but in unusual fashion he missed most of them badly. He was 2-9 shooting before the fourth quarter. He had a bad turnover late in the fourth that sealed any comeback attempt. Let’s hope this version of MCW is limited to one game.

Khris Middleton, B+

20 Points| 7-16 FG | 1-1 FT | 4 REB | 7 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

I like the way Middleton is playing right now. He’s looking for his three point shot (5-8) and not settling for difficult post-jumpers. He’s attacking the rim off the dribble and has shown a keen sense for knowing when to pass to an open shooter and when to take the shot himself. These dribble-drives led to the majority of his seven assists.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, D

4 Points | 2-5 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

This is the sort of performance that concerns fans. Five field goal attempts is simply not enough for the young talent. I understand that he’s trying to get teammates involved and work them into the flow of the offense, but he needs to look for his own shot too. He went the entire fourth quarter without taking a single shot. The team needs him to be more assertive.

Jabari Parker, F

9 Points | 2-12 FG | 5-6 FT | 4 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

He looked completely off. He couldn’t finish at the rim, couldn’t reel in rebounds, and missed most of his shots badly. I’m impressed that he kept attacking even though his shooting percentage was down, but missing as many shots as Greg Monroe took is a one-way trip to F-town.

Greg Monroe, A

19 Points| 7-10 FG | 5-5 FT | 11 REB | 3 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK |

Steady as she goes for the affable center. Could you imagine where this Bucks team would be without Monroe? It’s a nightmarish proposition. They way this Bucks team plays without Monroe suggests they would win less than 25 games if they didn’t have him.
