Talking of players who the Bucks have gotten a chance to see up close and personal recently, Dallas Mavericks’ young forward Dwight Powell has been a surprising contributor to Dallas unexpectedly solid start to this season.

Taken in the second round of last year’s draft, Powell was bounced from the Hornets to the Cavaliers before he even got to step forth on an NBA court as a Boston Celtic, and even then it wasn’t long before he ended up in Dallas as part of the Rajon Rondo deal.

Nobody would have thought that Powell would turn out to be the best part of the Mavs return from that deal, but averaging 7.9 points and 5.6 rebounds in 18 minutes per game this season, it’s starting to look like that.

Powell has great size at 6’11”, but he’s athletic too and by no means looks lumbering when he moves up and down the court. In the same way that Milwaukee has often benefitted from Johnny O’Bryant‘s enthusiasm and energy, Powell could make for a nice option in the second unit.

It would take a nice deal for Dallas to be persuaded to move Powell based on his recent play, so some young wing depth in the form of Inglis and a second rounder would be the absolute minimum required.
