Reactions: The Bad

  • The behavior of O.J. Mayo was unprofessional, selfish and reckless. It’s not what this team needs as it grows and learns how to play. The Bucks will always be better served with their players on the court able to contribute. In the space of a few seconds, Mayo undid much of the good work he’s put in place up to this point of the season.
  • Some of the players remarked post-game that Mayo’s ejection helped to spark them into life. On the one hand, that’s the canned answer that players give in those scenarios to support their teammates. On the other though, if that is indeed true, it’s a concern in itself. The Bucks have had little difficulty getting up to face perceived better teams, but if that’s what it’s going to take to motivate them against teams like Minnesota, the rest of the season is going to be ugly.
  • Although they somewhat managed to rectify it with the help of the bench as the game continued, the early drought was indicative of the challenges of the Bucks playing with their preferred starting lineup. When inside scoring dries up or is off, things can get ugly in a hurry.
