Milwaukee Bucks Grades: Starters

Michael Carter-Williams

4 Points | 2-6 FG | 0-0 FT | 5 REB | 6 AST | 3 STL | 0 BLK |

I understand that the impetus of stopping John Wall fell squarely on MCW. That’s not a fair match. MCW struggled staying in front on Wall all night which required help defense and made bad things happen. He did that an amazing half-court pass to Middleton, so not all was lost. Prunty left him on the bench nearly the entire fourth quarter in favor of a forward-heavy lineup.

Khris Middleton

25 Points| 9-17 FG | 6-7 FT | 5 REB | 5 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

There’s a lyric from Eminem’s “Business” which goes like this: “You ain’t even impressed no more, you’re used to it/Flow’s too wet, nobody close to it.” Yep. Pretty much sums up Middleton lately. He kept the Bucks afloat with yet another 20 point game which included that posterization of John Wall. He was the only starter with a positive (+/-), with a +4.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, B+

19 Points | 6-11 FG | 7-9 FT | 10 REB | 6 AST | 2 STL | 1 BLK |

It’s becoming clear that the only person capable of stopping Giannis, is Giannis. Using his above-average finesse for a seven footer he brutalized the Wizards in the third quarter to the tune of thirteen points. What’s bringing him down then? Yep, you guessed it: turnovers. He committed six Wednesday night.

Jabari Parker

22 Points | 9-13 FG | 4-5 FT | 6 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK |

Time to pop the cork on that bottle of expensive champagne you’ve been saving–Jabari Parker just hit the twenty point mark for the first time this season. Haters will scoff that it took half the season to get there, but those in the know will argue his 14.6 ppg over the last five (all against quality opponents) on 55% shooting isn’t just a good sign…it’s a precursor to sustained excellence.

Greg Monroe

21 Points| 8-13 FG | 5-9 FT | 12 REB | 1 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK |

I quiver to imagine where to Bucks would be without Monroe. Certainly a handful of wins poorer at the very least. He took full advantage of Marcin Gortat’s absence and dominated the Wizards in the lane with his usual back-to-the-basket brilliance. He missed a couple of gimmes, but also made a couple head scratchers. All in all a great performance.
