Milwaukee Bucks Grades: Starters

Michael Carter-Williams

9 Points | 3-8 FG | 2-2 FT | 6 REB | 4 AST | 0 STL | 2 BLK |

Not necessarily quite as impressive as some of his recent performances, but that may in large part be due to his opportunities being a little more limited by the return of Jerryd Bayless into the rotation. MCW will likely welcome some occasional relief from the bench again, and although this game may not jump off the page for him, 1-2 from three-point range and only a single turnover are positives for Milwaukee’s no. 5.

Khris Middleton

, A

24 Points| 11-16 FG | 2-2 FT | 4 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

Khris Middleton going two games without making a three-pointer would once have been a major problem for the Bucks, but it now goes almost without notice as he’s capable of scoring and contributing in so many ways. He can and will shoot over anyone, and from anywhere, but it’s his increased role and voice in the offense overall that is most exciting. He calls the shots now.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

14 Points | 4-10 FG | 6-6 FT | 11 REB | 3 AST | 0 STL | 3 BLK |

His rebounding has been sensational of late and it continued against the Hornets. His activity and confidence in terms of shooting may regularly fluctuate, but five straight games of 10 or more rebounds from the Greek Freak certainly offers an important boost to a Bucks team who are one of the worst in the league in that department. After his clutch overtime triple against Atlanta, Giannis once again stepped in to make a nice long two in this one.

Jabari Parker

, B

15 Points | 7-9 FG | 1-2 FT | 2 REB | 4 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK |

An excellent night from the field for Parker including a couple of nice dunks. It doesn’t seem like a coincidence that he thrived in the first half when Milwaukee had 17 of their assists, and went quiet in the second when they had only six. He needs help from his teammates to create, and the more the ball moves the more space there is for him to drive to the basket.

Greg Monroe

, B+

19 Points| 7-9 FG | 5-6 FT | 10 REB | 3 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK |

Monroe once again split a significant share of his minutes with John Henson, and with the right balance that rotation could yet prove very successful for the Bucks. For Monroe’s part he’s asked to provide the offense and he certainly obliged in this one. It’s not just his strength and work inside, but also his ability to get to the free throw line and convert. A Moose double-double is about as reliable as the sun setting at night and rising again in the morning.
