Player of the Week Rankings
1. Greg Monroe
2. Giannis Antetokounmpo
3. Khris Middleton

The Moose is back on top of the Player Rankings! Five double-doubles in a row is all it took to get him there.

Greg Monroe played in all five games this week and averaged 20.0 points (55.2% shooting), 11.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.8 blocks in 31.1 minutes per game. He was second on the Bucks in scoring and rebounding per game this week and fourth in blocks. He also had a double-double in all five games of the week.

Additionally, he had the second lowest turnover ratio (the number of turnovers a player averages per 100 possessions) on the team. That coupled with his crisp 55.2% shooting percentage shows me that Monroe was extremely efficient with the ball in his hands this week.

He also had the ball in his hands a lot, as evidenced by his usage rate of 26.3. High offensive efficiency with a lot of touches is one of the reasons why I decided to crown Monroe as the Player of the Week.

In the first game of the week against New York, Monroe went off for 28 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block. You cannot blame this loss on Moose. He had the best +/- on the team with +9 and led the team in points. He also took 16 shots and made 11 of them. It was a great individual performance capped off by 10 points in the fourth quarter.

Against Chicago, Greg had 17 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block. It was arguably his worst game of the week and it was a pretty good game. It just goes to show you the kind of week he had.

Next up against Washington, Monroe had 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 steals. It was his second strong performance in a loss for the week. He shot really well from the field going eight for 14 and got to the free throw line nine times. Unfortunately, he only converted on five of those nine attempts.

In the fourth game of the week against Atlanta, Monroe had 15 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 block. He got to the line 12 times and made seven of them. It was his best passing game of the week too. Moose helped create some easy shots for his teammates. Here is an example where he gets Giannis an easy dunk from making a strong pass out of the post.

In the fifth and final contest of the week against Charlotte, Monroe had another solid performance. He finished the game with 19 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and one block. He shot really well in this one going 7-9 from the field and 5-6 from the free throw line.

Monroe outscored the other team’s starting center by a total of 41 points this week (100 points for Moose, 59 points for his direct competition). He was outscored in a game only once, by Atlanta’s Al Horford. At the same time, he out-rebounded the opposing center by a total of 21 rebounds (56 boards for Moose, 35 for his direct competition).

He was out-rebounded in a game only once as well, by Chicago’s Pau Gasol. Overall, Monroe routinely outplayed the other team’s starting center.

Monroe did not do anything fancy this week yet he was steady and efficient. He performed really well in every game and even had one great game against the Knicks. His consistent performances were vital for the Bucks as they went 3-2 for the week.
