Reactions: The Bad

  • I mentioned that the Bucks played really good defense. And they did. Note how they held Dwyane Wade to just TWO points. You have Middleton and the help defense to thank for that. But no matter how well a defense is playing there are going to be breakdowns–like this Josh Richardson hammer over Giannis.
  • John Henson finished the game with a pretty respectable (and standard, for him) nine points and two blocks. But he was absolutely handled by Hassan Whiteside. Whiteside is the pinnacle of everything that Henson is capable of, but on this night Whiteside proved he’s in a completely different league than Henson. In the second quarter Henson tried to deny the entry pass to Whiteside on two straight plays. That led to a hammer dunk and free throws. When Henson wasn’t letting Whiteside past him on defense, he was letting him scoop up a handful of offensive rebounds. Henson’s numbers look okay, but he was no match for Whiteside.
  • Michael Carter-Williams failed to record an assist. It’s not that MCW played that poorly, but it’s odd for him to go a whole game without an assist–especially since he’s been playing a more facilitating role lately. He was strong with the ball (one turnover), but never really took full advantage of his huge match-up advantage over Tyler Johnson.
