Reactions: The Good

  • The starting five are beginning to show signs of their potential. They raced out to an early 8-2 lead and left the team with a 11-8 lead before Bayless and Henson entered for Monroe and Giannis. A three-point lead isn’t a substantial margin by any means–but given the way the bench has played lately any lead is valuable. Especially for when you hand the game over to your bucket-full-of-holes bench unit.
  • Khris Middleton’s caustic self caught fire in the third quarter. He scored 14 in the period on 6-10 shooting, and single-handedly kept the Bucks chances alive while the Pelicans threatened to put the game away early. His penchant for important shots and calm demeanor certainly help in big situations. He never seems to get rattled and never takes a god awful attempt (ahem, Bayless). But what’s most important about his game is that he elicits more trust than any other player with the ball in his hand. When he has the rock I know something good is going to happen.
  • Jabari Parker didn’t have the greatest game–he seemed to struggle with Anthony Davis’ challenges. Parker still managed 10 points on 3-7 shooting–a respectable (if underwhelming) effort. What wasn’t underwhelming was his dunk over Ryan Anderson in the first half. That was very overwhelming, at least for Ryan Anderson.
