Reactions: The Bad

  • What I wouldn’t give to be a fly on the wall during the Bucks defensive strategy meetings. I imagine it would go something like this. “Alright guys, we have an early tip on the road against a team that likes to shoot the three as much as the Rockets. So we know we’re going to have to tweak our defensive strategy a little bit. Any ideas?” “How about we completely vacate the three-point line and leave Ryan Anderson, who’s just a career 38% three point shooter, wide open all night?” Silence. “By god that might just work. But remember–no matter how things go, good or bad, we MUST stick to the plan. Remember, guarding the three-point line is for losers.” Break! The Bucks allowed six threes to Ryan Anderson and seventeen total to the Pelicans. Obvious things are obvious–that’s not good.
  • Umm Rashad Vaughn? Would you like to explain how on earth this happened?
  • So long as the Bucks have a bench that is incapable of stepping up they are going to suffer big losses like these. The Bucks bench scored just sixteen points (nine when the game still mattered), while the Pelicans got a 54 point lift from their bench. Henson and Bayless continue to play frustrating basketball, while Vaughn and O’Bryant often look overmatched. The Bucks are going to have to go shopping for some serious bench help in order to be consistently competitive.
