Milwaukee Bucks Grades: Starters

Michael Carter-Williams

, A-

19 Points | 9-12 FG | 1-2 FT | 4 REB | 5 AST | 2 STL | 2 BLK |

The MCW saga took another exciting twist Saturday night as the embattled point guard kept the Bucks afloat with a mixture of opportunistic exploitation and, well, luck. The Pelicans couldn’t stop him from getting into the paint and he made them pay–making seemingly all of those contorting-fading-twisting-falling eight footers that he’s so fond of taking. The four TOs hurt his grade.

Khris Middleton

, A-

22 Points| 8-16 FG | 2-2 FT | 7 REB | 5 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

Do you think marketing will ever wake up and start to push Middleton as the Bucks future instead of sticking with the Jabari/Giannis duo? The facts are there–the Bucks are better when Middleton has the keys to the offense. When he’s on the bench (like to start the fourth quarter, joined by Giannis) bad, nay–terrible things happen. The five TOs hurt his grade.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

, B

10 Points | 4-8 FG | 2-4 FT | 6 REB | 2 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK |

He fouled out midway through the fourth quarter. While some of the calls were of the 50/50 variety, most of them were earned. That’s something Giannis is going to have to learn to avoid. He needs to mix up his attack in the open floor instead of just pointing and shooting. Right now defenders are just sliding in front of him and flopping.

Jabari Parker

, B

10 Points | 3-7 FG | 4-4 FT | 5 REB | 3 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK |

He guarded Anthony Davis for stretches and the world is still turning today. Can you believe it? With the deserved criticism he’s catching for his defense you would have expected Davis to go off for 50. Nope, just a run-of-the-mill 22. And if Parker can improve and become just a run-of-the-mill defender then the Bucks will be happy that.

Greg Monroe

, A

22 Points| 8-13 FG | 6-6 FT | 11 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK |

I don’t know man, it’s Moose. He scored over twenty and ten again. You have to hand it to the man–he’s consistent. I’ll never warm up to the way he whines at refs while the ball is in play, but hey what can you do?
