Milwaukee Bucks Player of the Week Rankings
1. ???
2. Greg Monroe
3. Khris Middleton

Monroe played in all three games this week and averaged 30.2 minutes, 22.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists. He led the team in both scoring and rebounding.

Moose did what he usually does in leading the Bucks in points and rebounds for the week. Along with leading the team in scoring he also had a healthy field goal percentage of 52.4 (7.3 of 14 per game). To go along with scoring effectively from the field he also led the Bucks in free throw attempts with 8.3 per contest. He connected on 88 percent of his free throw attempts.

Monroe was unable to contribute much to the defensive end this week. He did not manage to collect a steal in any game and only had a single block over the course of the week. His defensive rating (the number of points per 100 possessions the team allowed while the individual was on the court) of 113.3 was the worst among all of the Bucks starters.

Over the course of the season Greg has averaged 9.6 rebounds per game. This week he averaged almost two fewer rebounds per game. Even with the significant drop off he led the Bucks in the statistic but Bucks fans know he can do a better job. Hopefully he can bump up his numbers as the season continues, as Milwaukee is 26th in the NBA in rebounds per game.

Monroe had a really high usage rate this week, 30.0. That is similar to the usage rates amassed by Paul George and Damien Lillard over the course of this season. George and Lillard average 3.7 and 3.3 turnovers a game respectively but Monroe averaged 2.3 turnovers per game this week. So Greg used plays like a ball dominant player but then proceeded to turn the ball over significantly less.

Combining Monroe’s high usage rate, solid shooting percentage, high number of free throw attempts, rebounding, and low turnover rate makes for a nice week by the Moose. He has definitely had better weeks this season but overall he played well. He produced the Bucks only double-double of the week in the win over Orlando and played pretty well in both losses. He deserves his spot on the Milwaukee Bucks player of the week rankings.
