Reactions: The Good

  • MCW had a phenomenal game. Buoyed by an amazing first quarter, MCW scored 18 points on 6-8 shooting, 13 assists, five rebounds, a steal, and a block. He knocked down outside jumpers (3-3 from beyond ten feet, 1-1 from three), and moved the ball with precision. He committed just three turnovers against a season-high thirteen assists and played within himself–often deferring to teammates rather than calling his own number.
  • Rashad Vaughn looks like he’s getting more and more confident by the game. He knocked down a trio of three pointers, and showed no hesitation in taking any of his long-range shots. He has yet to show any sort of diversity in his game–like dribble penetration, or half-court acumen. But that three-point shot sure is fire. Like this first quarter make that hit nothing but the bottom of the net (created by a inside-outside pass from MCW that apparently confused Giannis).
  • The Bucks hit 50 percent of their shots (42-84) and 40 percent from three (8-20). They dominated the Boogie-less Kings on the low block, scoring 54 points in the lane. Ball movement was impressive for the Bucks too, they accumulated 27 assists, making 64 percent of their made shots assisted. These are usually things that lead to wins, but this is the Bucks we’re talking about, so naturally it comes in a losing effort.
  • Jabari Parker is doing his damn best at developing his game. Right now it appears that his area of focus is improving his mid-range jumper. Monday night he hit just 2-6 of his attempts from ten feet or more, but one of those makes was a crucial 18-footer that came at a desperately needed time in the fourth quarter. The ability to make big shots outside the paint is crucial to his development. I’m sure he’ll get there. In the meantime we can sit back and enjoy these types of plays every night.
